I have been an elementary school teacher in Alachua County for 23 years. I tutor elementary students after school and on the weekends in their homes or in public places, such as libraries. I have been very successful helping students get or stay caught up with their schoolwork and pass the major tests, such as the FSA. I have many years of tutoring experience with children, from kindergarten up to fifth grade.

WHAT SETS ME APART AS A TUTOR?

My academic and research background in math means that I know the WHY of each topic, not just the WHAT!

2. Direct experience– I have years of experience teaching and writing curriculum the entire range of the secondary mathematics curriculum. I know where students get stuck, and what will help them succeed.

3. Knowledge of pedagogy– My doctoral research in education means that I have unique insight into how people learn best.

4. A student-centered approach– I will work with you to set meaningful goals, and make sure the learning is relevant and responsive to your unique strengths as a learner. I want you to feel listened to and valued.

5. Excellent standardized test scores, including perfect GRE scores– I’ve studied these tests and know how to succeed at them.
